My name is Kevin Kao and I'm a full-time professional piano teacher. I have a high quality, up-to-date piano studio both in teaching method and environment (in a profession that's easy to become stagnant and settle into dated methods of teaching and habits) with students ranging from 5 years old to 60 years old.
My ultimate goal in piano lessons is for my students to become well-rounded, confident, individuals who are able to think critically, be sensitive to the world around them, and to love and appreciate classical musical for the rest of their lives.
While my BM in piano performance from Cole Conservatory of Music compels me to upheld a high musical standard for my students I'm never for the pain-and-fear piano teaching methods of the past.
Students and parents say that I'm encouraging, patient, fun, and easy-going, yet strict on musical standards. And lastly, that I'm professional and passionate about music.
At my studio, you are guaranteed quality teaching because of my Master's degree from SDSU in piano performance along with completion of all the piano education classes (including child development as it relates specifically to piano lessons) and working personally with Dr. Mitzi Kolar (co-author of the Celebrate Piano Method books). To give students of my studio ample opportunities to be recognized and share their music, hard-work, and accomplishments with each other, my studio holds two recitals every year along with four informal, student-only, studio classes.
