Wayne Rogers’ early music training began in St. John’s NL and continued at Mount Allison University in organ performance and music education. Graduate studies in organ and voice at Boston University and the University of Western Ontario resulted in the completion of a Master of Music degree in music literature and performance. He taught music at elementary school level in St. John’s from 1971 - 1977 and was Director of Music, Memorial University of Newfoundland Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Corner Brook, NL from 1977 - 1991. His church music career has included positions in St. John’s NL, Amherst NS and Sackville NB. From 1982 to 1997 Wayne was Organist and Choirmaster at First United Church, Corner Brook, followed by ten years as Minister of Music at Trinity United Church, New Glasgow. Wayne is currently Minister of Music at St. Matthew’s United Church, Halifax, and conducts the Church Choir, AcabellA [Handbell Choir] and The Lunch Bunch. Additionally, he conducts EnChor East (formerly Bedford Singers) and recently completed a five-year tenure with Seton Cantata Choir (who performed at Festival 500, St. John's, NL, July 2013). He was part-time lecturer at Mount Allison University’s Department of Music 2009-10 and an active examiner for Royal Conservatory of Music 1995-2011. Since 2011, Wayne examines for Conservatory Canada and Mount Allison University Local Centre Examinations in piano and voice. He is a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International and holds membership in the Association of Canadian Choral Communities, Royal Canadian College of Organists and Worldwide Who’s Who.
