Member of MTAC and MTNA, Anahit Sevoyan
has over 30 years of successful teaching experience
in classical piano performance with children and
older students. Her teaching practice is based on
syntheses of Russian and American methods of piano
school. She is highly influenced by old traditions
of Russian and European Music schools. Her primary
goal of teaching is to convey knowledge about music
and at the same time recognize student's individual
potentials and goals and give students the skills
to perform to the best of their ability. Her teaching
emphasizes on the foundation of a good technique,
logical movement of musical composition and how
to use deferent part of hands depending on musical
section. Students receive a comprehensive music
education and Certificate of Merit. She provides
access to Scholarships and opportunities for annual
performances in competitions and festivals.
She is patient, confident and deeply committed
to high standards and excellent quality of musical
education.Mrs. Sevoyan is a dedicated teacher whose
students have been major prizewinners in competitions
organized by MTAC and SYMF. As recent as the summer
of 2007, two of Ms. Sevoyan's students won 2nd prize
from Southwestern Youth Music Festival. Her students
have also won awards in the Bach Festival, Contemporary
Music Festival and have been chosen to play at annual
MTAC conventions. The Department of Education of
Russia awarded Mrs. Sevoyan a Certificate of Honor
for excellence in teaching. She is the author of
"Improving Technique", a publication which
won acclaim from the Ministry of Education. Anahit
served as a co-director at the music school and
chief music specialist of the Department of Culture,
where she planned curriculum for students at different
stages of advancement. She taught in Russia at Volgograd
Academy of Music, in Armenia State Music College,
and Yeravan State Conservatory. She also worked
at the Valley College Music Department in Valley
Glen, California, as a piano assistant. She is an
accomplished pianist and accompanist, and has performed
as a solo concert pianist and worked as an instrumental
and vocal accompanist for over 30 years. Anahit
has given numerous solo piano performances in Boston
and in Los Angeles. She assisted at different churches
as a guest pianist and performed with various chamber
orchestras. She has performed as piano soloist Haydn
Concerto in D Major, Saint-Saens' Piano Concerto
No. 2 in g minor, Mozart's Concerto No. 23 in A
Major, Grieg's Concerto in a minor, Beethoven's
Concerto #3 c minor, and others with Symphony Orchestras.
She has also performed in Master Classes with Mack
McCray and Milton Stern.
Mrs.Sevoyan studied with famous musicians and teachers
in the former Soviet Union. She studied at the professional
music school from age seven. Mrs.Sevoyan graduated
with honors and holds Bachelor of Music degree in
Piano Performance from State Music College (USSR)
and Master of Music in Piano performance (with honors)
from Yerevan State Conservatory(USSR). Upon graduation
she received a qualification of soloist, concertmaster
and piano instructor. Currently Mrs. Sevoyan works
in Moscow Central School of Music in Rowland Heights.
She also works as a private accompanist and teacher.She
continues research and performs classical music
of all periods. She is also an active performer
and member at the Sara Compinsky Master class.
