What goes on in Piano Workshops? Workshops are
for students aged 5-14.
These are informal student get-togethers. Workshops
give students the opportunity to play for each other
and to discuss musical topics and to participate
in musical activities. This gets students used to
playing in front of others, and provides a positive
incentive for practice throughout the year! Students
really enjoy meeting one another and making musical
friendships. Parents or guardians are asked to leave
their children off for this student's-only get-together.
Please bring goodies or beverages to share with
other students.
What goes on in Piano Forums? Forums are for students
aged 15-120.
Performance is not required, but students are given
the opportunity to play for each other in a relaxed
atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to offer
suggestions and discussion related to pieces played.
In addition, each month a different topic related
to piano performance study will be focused on. Students
are invited to come with questions. Please bring
refreshments.
What are the Recitals like? Recitals are structured
but informal, definitely a safe haven for those
of us with Performance Anxiety! Students may bring
family and friends. These Recitals aim to bring
the joy back into playing for others. The Butterfield
Room makes a very attractive recital hall with seating
capacity for 80 people. They even have a brand new
Steinway grand piano. Students are asked to bring
goodies or beverages to celebrate their accomplishments.
Students aged
5-14 are assigned to the earlier recital time and
students 15-120 are assigned to the later recital
time.
