Michelle Toms earned her Bachelors
Degree in Music from North Central College in Naperville,
Illinois. Her primary focus was Piano Performance,
and as her senior honors project she completed a
thesis on modern piano pedagogy. She has taught
private piano lessons, both independently and through
music schools, to students between the ages of 5
to 40 since January of 2000.
Michelle has three primary goals as a teacher of
music.
1) To make music a personal experience, not just
a succession of notes.
2) To teach the general principles as well as the
specific art of piano technique and performance.
3) To teach students how to teach themselves.
To provide the greatest level of service and education
to her students, Michelle teaches all lessons in
the student's home. For this reason, she only accepts
students in the Naperville and DeKalb, Illinois
