At this landmark location since 1973,
Philippe Gelinas operates his studio where he has
taught students of all ages, from the first note
to the concert repertoire. Currently teaches a large
number of adult students from beginners to advanced,
who enjoy each other's musicality at voluntary recitals
and parties.
Whether you are interested in improvising in the
jazz idiom or performing classical masterworks,
the teacher's experience and research assures greater
proficiency and enjoyment.
TEACHER'S BACKGROUND:
Undergraduate work at American Conservatory and
graduate work at Northwestern University, with special
emphasis on piano performance and pedagogy.
Certified: National Music Teachers Association.
Member: National Music Teachers Association; Illinois
State Music Teachers Association; and Chicago Area
Music Teachers Association.
Past president of Chicago Area Music Teachers Association
(6 years). Has held numerous positions with this
organization, including Program Chair; organizer
of Jazz Festival; organizer of master classes, workshops,
and talks by noted pianists, pedagogues, and authors
in the field; leader of forums of performance, pedagogy,
and related issues.
AS PIANIST: In demand as accompanist
and soloist at party functions for corporations,
hotels and in private homes, performing cocktail-style
jazz, show tunes, classical.
