Instruments taught: piano and harp
Education: BA from University of Southern Colorado;
Artists Diploma and graduate studies from Juilliard
School of Music.
Professional experience: Extensive performing career
as soloist and chamber musician with major recitals
in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Museum,
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum etc. Founding member
of the Rameau Trio with which I recorded an extensive
set of critically acclaimed baroque chamber music
recordings for MMO records. Winner of the 1975 International
Chamber Music Competition at Lincoln Center. Decades
of private teaching experience.
Teaching style and emphasis: children of all levels
preferred though I will take beginning adults on
the harp and advanced adults on the piano by audition
and interview. I teach traditional piano repertoire
and technique with emphasis on tone production by
relaxed weight, systematic technical development
through scales, arpeggios and selected studies,
theory through printed material as well as the study
of chord progressions in all keys and emphasis on
correct stylistic interpretations based on historical
references. I also supplement with computer programs
such as the Music Ace and Auralia Ear Training programs.
In addition to standard private lessons, I also
offer chamber music classes and recital/audition
coaching. I teach out of my home studio on a well
maintained Mason & Hamlin grand piano tuned
and regulated to concert artist standards. I believe
that musical enrichment through private lessons
is unequaled in its ability to empower the human
spirit and develops an unprecedented cache of lasting
benefits in many areas of personal growth.
