Ben Hanson, a 2002 home school graduate,
teaches piano at Schmitt Music. He has taught piano
since 1999 with over 80 students.
He started playing the piano when he was 6 years
old and has been playing ever since. He has studied
piano under Ms. Beth Kaiser and Ms. Vicki Ott. Along
with piano, he has studied voice under Mr. David
Roby and Dr. David Playfair.
He’s an active church musician, playing for
Mount of Olives Baptist Church and The Lutheran
Church of the Holy Trinity both of Duluth, MN. He
was the church pianist at Lincoln Park Community
Church for 5 years. Currently, Ben is the pianist/organist
for Mount of Olives Baptist Church
He has also provided music for weddings, funerals,
and recitals. He has accompanied many choirs, vocalists,
and instrumentalists. He has sung with the Duluth
Superior Symphony Orchestra Chorus (DSSOC) and UW-Superior’s
A cappella and Chamber choirs. He’s the musical
director for the Youth Missions Night at Mount of
Olives Baptist Church for the 4^th year.
He has received six consecutive Superior ratings
at the Duluth Music Teachers Association (DMTA)
sponsored Junior Festival where he also volunteered
as an auditor for 3 years.
