Mr. Himmelberger has been a professional
pianist/teacher in the New York/New Jersey area
for over 25 years. He teaches all ages and all styles
from classical, pop, blues to jazz. He is great
with young kids and teaches in a non pressure relaxed
atmosphere. He also teaches pop and jazz theory
to pianist as well as other instrumentalist (and
vocalist also) who need to expand their understanding
of harmony and want to apply it to their instrument.
Mr. Himmelberger graduated William Patterson University
in 1979 . He worked on and off with the Glenn Miller
band from 1985-1990. He also performed with various
jazz groups in the United States, St. Marrten, London,
Argentina, and Uraguay. In the spring and summer
of 1987 he had the opportunity to work with Brian
Torff (George Shearing’s bassist at the time)
in mainly east coast jazz clubs. In September of
89 he performed at Carnegie Hall with Michele Hendricks.
In May of 92 he performed with the Frank Vicari
quartet at the Cancun jazz festival. In the summer
of 97 he recorded some of his own compositions that
was recorded and played on WVIA in PA. in July and
the last one was aired in October of that year.
In February of 98 he performed on a TV show hosted
by George Graham for WVIA in which he performed
these compositions.
He has a book of jazz transcriptions of Thelonious
Monk, and Bud Powell solos that have been published
and are sold in most music stores and through various
music magazines and catalogs around the country.
He also has written articles along with solos transcriptions
of famous jazz pianist for Piano Today magazine.
His CD “Where do you go from here?”

He is currently teaching piano at Newark Academy
in Livingston NJ on weekdays, and is looking to
take on students where he lives (in the Woodbridge
area) at your home on weekends.
