Performance) 1985
Mark Paulson began his music studies when he was
five years old. He received an Associate of Religious
Arts degree from Northeastern Bible College and
a degree in Piano Performance from Montclair State
University. He has performed popular and sacred
music as an entertainer and church musician for
over 25 years. He is an adjudicator for The National
Piano Guild. Mr. Paulson's best ability in music
is to teach piano. One of his many teachers was
Eleanor Statmore who studied with Rosina Lhévinne
at Julliard. Mrs. Statmore was a wonderful pedagogy
teacher as well as a piano instructor. Mr. Paulson
has also studied with Mrs. Rhoda Nelson, Dr. Paul
Satre, Dr. Ruth Rendelman, and Mr. Edmund Battersby.
Mr. Paulson has taught piano since 1979 in private
homes in Glen Ridge and Montclair, New Jersey. He
teaches adults and children but believes that starting
too soon can be frustrating for children and can
cause them to lose interest. Mr. Paulson recommends
that children have a desire to study music and are
able to read words before they begin lessons. Each
student that studies with Mr. Paulson is taught
differently according to their interests and needs.
This allows him to retain his students for long
periods of time. His approach has made him a very
popular teacher.
Mr. Paulson has performed for fund raisers, churches,
parties, and weddings since 1979. He plays easy
listening music on the piano or his synthesizer.
His audiences enjoy hearing him play music by Gershwin,
Porter, Berlin, and various other composers. He
also plays Broadway music, popular standards, holiday
music, and classical piano. His synthesizer makes
it possible to perform inside or outside. His music
adds the perfect touch to special occasions.
Mr. Paulson's web site at www.njpianoteacher.com
is designed to answer all of your questions.
It has been Mr. Paulson's desire to do whatever
he can do to help students and teachers develop
their piano performance and teaching skills. If
he can help you, please contact him.
