Jamie studied Creative Arts at Newcastle Polytechnic in which he was awarded a BA with honours, and studied composition with Gillian Whitehead and Stephen Ingham. He has 30 years teaching experience.
He taught piano and keyboards within Sussex and Brighton and Hove schools and colleges to A level.
Jamie worked at Northbrook college teaching keyboards and electronic music, with London City Ballet (education), at the City Lit. (London) and as a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art.
His concert music for piano is performed worldwide, he was the first person to be commissioned by the V&A museum to write music specifically composed for an exhibition.
As a solo pianist Jamie performs a classical repertoire specializing in the music of Erik Satie.
With Professor Robert Orledge, Jamie founded the music imprint SOUNDkiosk Editions publishing previously unpublished work by Erik Satie and Claude Debussy.
