I am currently the Artist in Residence at Steinway of Austin. I hold a bachelor's degree in piano performance from Baylor University, and a Master's degree in Jazz Performance from University of North Texas.
My specialty is to teach improvisation, pop music, contemporary, and to help the student to find his/her own way to play.
I strongly believe that music should be a fun endeavor. Hence, it should be learned in a natural way.
I also believe the skill of improvisation and "playing by ear" has a structure. Once that structure is figured out, everybody should be able to emulate it and to apply it to his or her performing skills. It is my job to make this process clear and enjoyable.
